LINKED
Surrender the walls ~ Build the bridges ~
Link us to our world
Acts 10:9-20 ~ Ephesians 6:19-20
Our theme “Linked” means we will challenge each other to surrender the walls that divide us and build the bridges to unite us which will link us to our world to share the love of Jesus Christ.
WORSHIP
Worship is a major part of our Labor Day Experience!
DENNIS PETHERS - Dennis is founder of Viz-A-Viz Ministries and International Director of More to Life. Dennis grew up in the East End of London. He discovered the amazing truth about Jesus “whilst” reading Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, sitting on a train outside of Liverpool Street Station. He travels internationally to both lead evangelistic efforts and train churches in evangelism. He is the author of the books More to Life and The Rooftop: A Crisis of Opportunity. Learn more about Dennis at dennispethers.com.
THE BROWN FAMILY - Worship team from Taylors, South Carolina. Everyone participating in the 2011 experience requested they return for 2012! Mark and his two young adult daughers, Erin and Meagan use music as their primary source of connecting with both believers and non-believers. “Loving people to Christ” is their family’s mission statement and the words they live by each day. The music on our Singles Labor Day Experience 2012 video is one of their songs!
BIBLE STUDY
Dr. Rustin Umstattd will be leading an in-depth Bible study based on our theme - Linked. These studies will take place during the Discovery Sessions. Rus is an assistant professor of Theology with Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO. A graduate of Georgia Southwestern University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Ph.D. and M.Div).
REALITY MISSIONS
In addition to the Discovery Session options on Saturday afternoon, you will have a choice of participating in hands-on mission projects in the Ridgecrest area. Check back for more details on these projects coming soon.
DISCIPLESHIP
Our Discovery Sessions are truly learning opportunities for us to link with God through in-depth Bible study and a variety of relevant topics. The Discovery Sessions will be held in the Johnson Spring Conference Center and the ARC. The working titles for the conferences are posted with the schedule. Descriptions will be posted soon. BTW, as requested on many of the 2011 evaluations, most of the facilitators are single adults! We are also repeating most of the conferences as indicated on the schedule.
HANGIN’ OUT TIME [HOT]
If you’ve been with us before, you know we do all sorts of things together . . . eating our meals together in the dining room, playing games in the lobbies, porches, and new this year—our very own Hospitality Room! The Brown Family will be providing the dance music on Saturday evening for our Mountain Stomp. On Sunday evening we are having a special game night. Plus, we do lots of hanging out on the porches, in the famous rocking chairs, and beautiful walks around the campus!
SPORTS & SIGHTSEEING
And of course, we have lots of on-campus recreational activities—a Ropes Course, Zip Line, Climbing Wall, Laser Tag, Miniature Golf, basketball, disc golf, sand volleyball, and much more. Most are free but some have a small fee. You are also welcome to go rafting and participate in other off-campus activities by making your own arrangements.

Ways to Get Your Friends to Go to Singles Labor Day Experience with YOU!!
- Begin by committing to bring a group of singles from your church and community. Pray for God to stir the hearts of single adults to participate in the Singles Labor Day Experience.
- Announce the conference during worship services and to all single adult Sunday School classes and small groups.
- Use the church web site to promote the event by having a special Singles Labor Day Experience web page. Link the Singles Labor Day Experience web site to your page and add your group plans for going together. Include registration through your church office so that you take advantage of the discounts listed with the pricing information.
- Gather promotional materials. Use the promotion downloads from the Singles Labor Day Experience web page. On the back side of the bulletin insert provide information about your church’s plans for going to Ridgecrest including how to register through the church; travel arrangements, contact person, special offers the church is making to help singles go to the event (for example, some churches pay part or all of the registration fee and/or provide transportation). If you want to take advantage of the Labor Day discounts, encourage everyone going from your church to register together.
- Display posters in high-traffic areas of your church building so that singles will see them and others will learn about the event to pass on to their single adult family members and friends. Or if your church has TV monitors in the hallways for announcements, include it there.
- Set up a table in the church lobby with signs, and sign-up sheets. Staff your table with single adults to answer questions about the Experience.
- List conference information in your worship bulletin 3-6 months before the event.
- Promote the conference as a birthday gift for “a single adult you know.”
- Send an e-mail to your singles e-mail list (make sure you have permission from the addressees to use the list for promotion).
- Twitter your network the link to the Singles Labor Day Experience web site.
- Invite your single adults to join the Singles Labor Day Experience FaceBook group.
- Organize a phone campaign among the single adults to invite singles who are not members of the Sunday School classes nor small groups. Remember those singles who are Sunday School teachers with preschoolers, children, and students.
